The Hamburger is a ubiquitous food across the country, but there are some places that get to lay claim to cornering the market, and Fort Worth is one of those. Kincaid’s

A Fort Worth hit for years, the original Kincaid’s on Camp Bowie is iconic for it’s grocery store counter and picnic tables. It has recently expanded over the past few years (including a brief and storied stint in LaGrave Field) but has stayed true to form – short order burgers done well and well done.

Love Shack

A fancy burger in Cowtown would have been inconceivable 10 years ago, but the times they are a-changing.  Tim Love has turned a Stockyards hole in the wall into the place that combines a quail egg and a hamburger patty into pure love.  His second location in the South 7th area features a more modern design to stare at the Fort Worth sky.

Charley’s

Charley’s consists of three picnic tables, two round benches, a 4-foot patio overhang and a window to order a burger.  You are not going to get more basic than this spot south of TCU, and that’s okay.  The hamburger stand really is the southside’s little secret, but don’t let that stop you from walking up and placing an order.

Dutch’s

Surrounded by TCU, Dutch’s has understandably become a popular spot for students and fans alike.  Named after former Horned Frogs coach Dutch Meyer, they have established themselves as a solid place for a hamburger.  With sweet buns and onion rings that are the size of softballs, this place will be popular (as Dutch Meyer famously quipped) ‘until hell freezes over.’

Fred’s Texas Cafe

What can be said about Fred’s Texas Cafe that hasn’t been written in thousands of places before? Very little, and that’s part of why Fred’s is so darn good.  Fred’s used to be a lone oasis in the museum district, but has since been surrounded by new development. That hasn’t taken anything away from the place that has two things going for it, great burgers and cold beer.
